Celebrate life and make a difference by giving blood.
Blood is needed for many different kinds of patients. It could be a young child with a rare blood disorder, a family member fighting cancer, or a friend involved in a car accident. Sara Bovee Hines, Owner of Kitchen & Bath World, shares her personal story in support of all blood donation efforts.
On March 23, 2022, Jameson Christopher Hines came into this world. What happened after that was my worst nightmare come true. After delivery, there were complications. A medical team tried everything possible to stop my bleeding. I needed a full blood transfusion to keep me alive. There we 30 doctors working on me while I was awake. It was completely terrifying. The decision was made the only way to save my life was to remove my uterus. I went into surgery knowing I would die if they couldn’t stop the bleeding. I woke up in the ICU 24hrs later, Intubated and on a ventilator. I had no idea what had happened. Overall I received 8 units of blood, or about an entire human body’s worth. I am so thankful to the Red Cross and its efforts to keep the importance of blood donation at the forefront. (read more of Sara’s story @myrotteneggs on Instagram)
